Daniele Zonta is an artist and former architect, born in Bassano del Grappa in 1987. After studying architecture in Venice, he moved first to Rome and then to Rotterdam, where he currently lives. A self-taught artist, Zonta worked as an architect for internationally renowned firms such as Studio Fuksas and MVRDV. In 2023, he devoted himself entirely to art, embracing abstract art in a continuous exploration of the unexpected.
In 2024, he begins the Crickets series, a collaboration with field crickets, who do much of the work, leaving the artist with the task of establishing spatial boundaries (which the crickets do not always respect) and declaring the work complete. A ravenous vital impulse drives the process, making each mark spontaneous and free from premeditation.
Started with wafer paper, the research now includes other edible materials like pure gold, exploring the idea of adding value through subtraction.
A work that invites reflection on human primacy in art and encourages moving beyond prejudice and aversion, even between different species.
Zonta has exhibited in Italy and the Netherlands, and in 2024, he was invited to participate in the III Biennale of Irpinia.
